Portia M’s 3rd Annual Women’s Brunch
In September 2025, Portia M Skin Solutions hosted its 3rd Annual Women’s Brunch, bringing together approximately 250 women for an inspiring celebration of purpose, empowerment, entrepreneurship and sisterhood. Held under the powerful theme “Flourish, Thrive Fiercely!”, the event created a space for women to connect, share experiences, gain valuable insights and celebrate the many ways in which women continue to grow and make an impact.
The theme was more than just a statement; it was a call to action. During the event the Founder and Managing Director, Mrs Portia Mngomezulu, shared the inspiration behind the theme, encouraging women to embrace their individual journeys, pursue their ambitions boldly and recognise that they deserve to flourish in every area of their lives. Whether in business, their personal lives or their chosen careers, the message was clear: women should never be afraid to take up space, pursue their dreams and thrive on their own terms.
The atmosphere was filled with warmth, excitement and a shared sense of purpose as women from different backgrounds gathered to learn from one another, celebrate their achievements and draw inspiration from the experiences of those who have walked similar paths.
The programme was led by the talented and charismatic Mmatema Moremi, popularly known as Mrs G, who guided the day’s proceedings with warmth and energy. The programme featured an inspiring line-up of speakers who brought valuable perspectives on mental wellness, entrepreneurship, personal branding and the importance of remaining grounded while pursuing success.
The Mental Wellness segment, led by Dr Tumi Mashego, explored the importance of navigating entrepreneurship while prioritising mental well-being. Through conversations around resilience, balance and mental clarity, the session highlighted the need for women to care for themselves while building their businesses and pursuing their ambitions. It reinforced an important message: success should not come at the expense of one’s well-being.
The business conversation continued with the “Inside the Industry” segment, featuring insights from Mpumi Madubedube, founder of SAN Hair, alongside the Portia M buyers panel. The discussion offered valuable perspectives on retail readiness, getting products onto shelves, understanding trends and expectations in the beauty and skincare market, and navigating the real-world challenges that entrepreneurs face when growing their businesses.
For aspiring and established businesswomen alike, the session provided an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the industry and the practical steps required to turn a business vision into a sustainable enterprise.
The Personal Branding segment, led by Lerato Kganyago, explored the importance of building a personal brand with purpose. The conversation encouraged women to recognise the value of their unique identities, communicate their stories with confidence and build a presence that reflects their values, ambitions and aspirations.
Innocent Sadiki further inspired attendees through a conversation on staying spiritually grounded while pursuing purpose and entrepreneurial success. Her contribution highlighted the importance of remaining connected to one’s values and beliefs while navigating the demands and opportunities that come with personal and professional growth.
Together, these conversations offered a wholesome perspective on what it means to flourish: nurturing one’s mental well-being, building with intention, showing up authentically and remaining grounded throughout the journey.
Creating Opportunities Through the Business Pitch Competition
A standout feature of the brunch was the Business Pitch Competition, which reflected Portia M’s commitment to empowering women beyond inspiration alone. The competition provided women with an opportunity to present their business ideas and demonstrate their entrepreneurial potential.
Recognising that many women have promising ideas but need financial support to take them further, Portia M used the platform to celebrate innovation, encourage entrepreneurship and invest in women’s ambitions.
Three winners were awarded cash prizes to support their business journeys. The third-place winner received R5,000, the second-place winner received R10,000, and the first-place winner walked away with R15,000.
The competition beautifully brought the theme “Flourish, Thrive Fiercely!” to life. It demonstrated that empowering women means not only encouraging them to dream but also creating opportunities for them to develop their ideas, overcome barriers and build businesses with the potential to grow and thrive.
